Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Chief Riding Mower, safety switches, lawn chief

Question
Where exatcly are the safety switches on lawn chief located? My mower suddenly died just after I started using it. Engine won't turn over, just a click. Can't push it because rear wheels are locked up even when in neutral. Fuse is ok, got lights on. 8 - 9 years old, model # 13CH660F022. When I remove the plate cover, i saw a wire about 10 inches long loose but can't find any place where it could have been disconnected from. Thanks for any help

Answer
That depends upon the manufacture there is no standard they follow.  That being said first switch to find would be the seat switch and would probably be the easiest.  If you of wires going up into the seat from the bottom switch would be there.  Then you would have a PTOs switch if you have an electric PTO the safety switches built-in if you have the manual PTO bobble the linkage and you'll find a place where a switch is activated.  You also have a key switch and daybreak/clutch switch.  You also have numerous grounds and they would have to be checked.  The transmission being blocked in neutral should have nothing to do with starting the engine.  But the transmission could be an expensive repair once you find the electrical problem.  I would suspect that you have worn shift keys inside the transmission and that they would have to be replaced.  You could do it but it is a very dirty job.  You cannot just disconnect the switch and safety system.  The circuit has to be made so 12 V continues along the path.  If you're solenoid is clicking I would suspect either the battery or a loose ground.  I hope this information has helped.  Good luck.
