Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Scotts Riding Mower - Wont Start, starter solenoid, fuse box

Question
Hello Mr. Hemmer, My Scotts model 1742 mower gets no power to the starter via the ignition switch.  I can however cross jump the terminals at the starter solenoid and press on the seat and it will start.  I replaced the solenoid, but still does the same thing.  Does this sound like the starter switch is bad, or the fusible link.  I still haven't found the fusible link to be able to check it.  Thanks a bunch in advance for your help.  Lin B.

Answer
There is usually a fuse box with more than one fuse.  Although there may also be individual plugs in the wire harness.  Yes I would try a key switch first.  There may also be a loose ground wire or corroded wire along the start circuit.  I would suggest using a continuity meter follow 12 volts through the circuit to be sure there is nothing else. The start circuit is the wires that attach to the small terminals on the side of the solenoid.
