Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs quantum xm cam gear alignment, hp briggs, vertical shaft

Question
I was in the process of tearing down a 5hp vertical shaft Quantum XM motor when I carelessly allowed the cam gear to fall out.  There is one dot on the crank but several dots on the plastic cam gear.  Which dot on the cam gear do I align to the crank dot?

Answer
Hello Joe:

The Cam Gear I am Looking at is for a 5 HP Briggs Quantum Engine. It has an Indent (u shaped, Sunken Into the Plastic Gear) Between 1 Set of the Teeth that Aligns with the Crankshaft Mark. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/doclist.aspx?categ... and Enter the Model Numbers (XXXXXX) and the First 4 Type Numbers (XXXX) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
