Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere GT275, john deere gt275, low oil pressure

Question
The hydro. Trans. will not go in reverse and is slow in forward. The Trans makes a wining noise like it is low on oil. It is full. Also the lever to release the Trans so you can move it manually will not release. you pull the lever and the wheels stay locked. The tractor is only used in the winter for snow blowing. After about 2 hours of running it will start to move faster and you have a very slow reverse.

Answer
Hello Al:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool and I can Only Answer Questions from the Question Pool when I am Not Answering Questions here or at the Other Site I Answer Questions at. From your Description it Sounds like the Hydraulic Pump Requires Maintenance. The Whine is Usually caused by Low Oil or Low Oil Pressure. If the Pumps Relief Valve Sticks Open or Partly Open, then you will have the Problem you Described. Try Lubricating the Release Lever. If a Hydro Release Lever is Not Operating, then you cannot Move the Unit. The Wheels will Not Turn Due to Hydro Lock. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
