mower runs fine but when i engage the blade nothing happens any suggestions

It deepens upon the PTO you have is it electrical or mechanical?  Start first with the belt be sure that it is in place not broken and adjusted properly.  If you have a mechanical clutch foul the linkage from the PTO engagement lever to pulley mechanism that would tighten the belt.  Adjust as needed.

If you have an electric clutch and when you engage it nothing happens meaning the blades do not operate your problem is in the PTOs switch or the clutch itself.  Unplug the PTO switch and test with the continuity meter more than likely you have a double pole double throw switch that means you have one switch operating two circuits.  When the clutch when the safety system both have to work properly.  If the switch is fine remove the electric clutch and apply 12 V directly to it.  It should easily engage.  If it doesn't replace the clutch.  I hope I have helped.
