BMW Repair: E46 330Ci, hand thread, retainer

Question
My central locking closes the door but will not open even though I can hear it operate. I want to take the door actuator out but the window rail is in the way. Is it easy to remove and can you tell me if it is a common problem.

Answer
Mike, door lock actuator is a common repair. You have to remove the door glass to move the rail out of the way. The retainer bolt is left hand thread. The metal clamp is held together by a little rubber O-ring at the bottom. You will also need to remove the black plastic hexagonal sleeve. When removing the glass from the regulator.
Good luck. Let me know if you need more info.
