Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi trimmer SS30, ryobi trimmer, exhaust port

Question
I also have a lack of power with my Ryobi trimmer.  Your answer to a previous person was to check the muffler and spark arrestor to see if they were clean.  The owner's manual says a qualified person should do this.  Is it safe to do on your own and are there any gaskets to be replaced?

Answer
Hello Thomas:

Usually, Removal of the Muffler and Cleaning the Exhaust Port is a Simple Repair. Using a Breakdown, I Think Most People can Remove and Replace a Muffler on Most Trimmers. You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.ryobitools.com/parts and Select "Go to Ryobi Outdoor Parts Store". Now Select "Repair Parts Catalog". Select I Agree to Terms. Now Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Now Double Click on you Model in the Results Area. The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated. **Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear. If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off. If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
