Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl 028 wood boss chainsaw, condensor, ign

Question
This saw is about 28 years old. I have not used it very much recently because it will start and cut wood for 8 to 10 minutes or until it gets hot. It will then die and will not start until it cools off. After cooling it will again run for another 10 minutes. Any suggestions to fix..thanks

Answer
Hello Gary:

This Problem is Caused by a Bad Ign Coil or a Bad Condensor. If the Unit has the Solid State Ign Coil, then this is Heating up and Shorts Out. When this Happens, the Coil Stops Firing the Plug Until the Ign Coil Cools. If the Saw has a Point Set Under the Flywheel, then the Condensor is Bad. Like the Solid State Ign Coil, when the Condensor Heats Up it Grounds the Point Set and Stops the Plug from Firing Until the Condensor Cools. Stihl Offers No Online Breakdowns. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
