Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chainsaw, exhaust manifold, muffler

Hi i have a Remington Yard Master 1 and i am probably about to put it on a scooter i was wondering if i take the muffler of the engine will i get more power? even a little more? also i dont mind making a load of noise or seeing some sparks.

Believe it or not less.  The intake and exhaust are "tuned" to get the max power from the engine.  Look at the muffler on a cutting compaticion Chainsaw.  They are huge compared to the original muffler.  You want some source of exhaust manifold, like a header on a car.  You have to get the heat away from the engine.
