Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn boy question, copper head gasket, cordless electric lawnmowers

Question
QUESTION: Hello John,
I just rebuilt a lawn boy engine, circa 1979. I noticed that there was no gasket that goes between the block case halves and I could not find one available. I tried some liquid copper head gasket material but it didn't hold. What is  used to seal this area?
Also, what is your take on the cordless electric lawnmowers?

ANSWER: Hello Al:

From your Description this May be the Lawn Boy Model that Used a Machine Fit for the Jug and Block Connection. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John,
First, Thanks for the quick reply!!!
The model number is R8237 and the serial number is 9434801. When I split the cases originally, there was some kind of sealant, a brownish hard coating. Very brittle too.
Again, Thanks for your help

Answer
Hello Again Al:

Thanks for the Model Numbers and the Extra Information. You have the Machined Fit and the Brownish Coating is/was a Sealant that is Used when Installing the Jug to the Block. I will Email you Again Tomorrow Morning with the Name of this Sealant and Possible a Company to Purchase a Smaller Amount for Personal Use. The Bottle is in the Shop. Thanks.

Hello Again Al:

Sorry for the Delay. By the Time I Found Out the Shop was Out the Cylinder Sealant and had Discarded the Bottle, it was too Late to Contact the Retailer. I will Contact them in the AM and Follow Up with you before Noon. Thanks.
