Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Converting points to Magnetron, nova ii, eaiser

Question
I have an older 16 HP twin cylinder B&S with a points setup. I would like to change over to Magnetron, but when I enter the part # that my parts list suggests I use to convert ( P/N 394891 ) it only shows the ignition coil with the two wires coming off. I guess you could say my question is do I just order that and it's already to go,or do I have to remove the rusted points that are on there now?  The model # is 401707  Type is 0130 and the Code is  81012812. I've been trying to get a straight answer regarding this, but other sites are not responding to my questions, and I would just like to get this done. Thank You so much!!  Matt....

Answer
You can just order the part and go.  Part number 394891 already has the electonic ignition parts built in.  You do not have to remove the old points unless there is an excessive amount of oil coming out from the point plunger.  Most of the time we just leave the points in.

A cheaper route is to buy a Nova II or similar aftermarket electronic igntion module.  You will have to do some wiring but it it half the cost.  The other downside is you still have to use your old coil which could possibly fail.   I'd recommend the Briggs...eaiser to install and new coil.
