Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Eager 1 Lawn Mower, craftsman eager 1, air filter element

Question
I can not start this mower without taking the air filter off and pouring gas in the air intake compartment.  Once it starts it only runs for a few seconds.  What could be the problem and possible solution?

It only runs for a few seconds as that's all the fuel it has.  Your fuel system needs a thorough cleaning.  Remove the carburetor disassembled and cleaned all passages with that tag wire.  This would also be a wire from a twist tie.

Pull out all passages with compressed air.  If you do not have compressed air you could use that can of air used to blow out computer keyboard.  Purchase a carburetor kit for the engine easier model and serial number off the engine not off the lawnmower to be sure you get proper kit.  Install all the parts.  Installed new mounting gasket where ever you remove an old one.  Install a new air filter element and clean the fuel cap vent.  Clean all fuel lines again, blow them out.  Be sure the screen inside the fuel tank covering the fuel out is clean.

Install a new spark plug, change the oil.  This should take care of your problem.
