Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S 445777 24 hp, valve guide, intek

Question
I have an engine that has bent push rods on left cylinder as in http://en.allexperts.com/q/Small-Engines-Lawn-1746/2008/7/Briggs-Intek-Bent-Rod....
on disassembly have found that the cause was the valve guide coming out and jamming the exhaust valve closed. Is this a problem with this engine and how do you suggest i repair this valve guide problem that it not happen again.

Thats going to depend on how much damage was done to the valve guide hole, it may not hold a guide again. or might be able to knurl it to grasp the guide....Tough question without seeing it myself to make that determination. Might be better to swap the head out on that side......Tom
