Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh model # and carb, eager beaver, engine model

Question
David,
I'm working on a sears 6.75 eager beaver 1. Where can I find the engine model number?? Also it has one of those plastic carbs.
I took it apart and cleaned everything and reassembled it, I reused the old gasket. It was fair looking. The carb primes ok and starts. But then it acts like it runs out of gas. I reprime and it starts again but dies.
Any thoughts??
Dave

Answer
David,

Tecumseh never used engine codes for that late a year Make and model.
But i can help you
your spark timing is out of sync If you cant do this I suggest you have the local shop do it for you.
The condenser and points that control the output of spark timing is located behind and underneath the flywheel Poor design planning But this part is not a whole lot only costing a max of $12-14 dollars if that + Labor which is less then $40 total depending on the shop.
If it is the original condenser and points over time it has slowly began to wear.
As time went on the points slowly have worn down to when you start it it will choke and run great but when you throttle it the call for more fuel also causes the flywheel to spin faster the magneto points pass faster and the condenser and points engage to give it an additional jolt of Juice to fire the plug hotter.
thus giving you the power required to run at full throttle
