Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LX188 failing to start, lx 188, safety switches

Question
I have a LX 188 92-94 model, MOLl188X112847.
Currently unable to figure out why it will not start. The only signs of life are lights and a buzz on the PDB on key module. I have checked Starter, PTO switch and replace the Key Module with no success.  I have traced wiring to a sensor back on the hydrostatic differential. The last time it ran, I was beginning to start the PTO and had to dis-engage due to needing to do something real quickly. Sat back down and went to start and no life!
Help!

Answer
I would follow the usual troubleshooting system.  Check the battery, it should read 12.6 volts DC.  Check battery ground and cables, clean and tight.

Then follow the current. Battery to top terminal on solenoid.  Small terminal on solenoid to the safety switches on your mower.  PTO, seat, brake, clutch, transmission neutral, key and back to the other small terminal on the solenoid.  Then from the solenoid to the starter to ground.

Voltage has to go through each switch and to the next without going to ground until the starter ground or battery ground.  There is no set way to do it just find a switch and test it with a continuity meter.

Switches are marker NO, normally open or NC, normally closed.  If there is an interlock module where multiple color wires come from it, eliminate it by testing all the rest and if they are good replace the interlock module.  Check every connection for a good connection.  Be sure the fuses are good and you should find it along the way.  Good luck.
