Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi 6.5 Briggs & Stratton Push Mower, briggs stratton, throttle linkage

Question
Similar question - newer mower ran great now wont start.  Tried the starting fluid idea but nothing. Should I see a spark at the plug when I remove it and pull on the starter cord?  (Can't tell if a spark is getting to the end of the plug).  This is weird -  thanks.

Answer
Yes, you should see a spark jumping the gap.  Try taking the plug out, lay it up against the cylinder head away from the spark plug hole, go to a darker place in your garage and try it.  If you see a spark then is it getting gas.  If there is no spark look for a loose wire where the throttle linkage connects.  White or yellow, I think.  If ok replace ignition module.

Next is fuel.  Clean the fuel system.  The fuel cap cent, fuel tank, in-tank filter screen and fuel hose. Then remove the catb, drain it, turn it upside down and take the bowl nut off.  Remove the bowl and float with the inlet needle attached.  Replace the inlet needle and seat, bowl gasket and all mounting gaskets.  Hook up fuel and try.  I think you will find the problem along the way. Good luck.
