Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B & S 17.5 hp oil in gas filter, harmful oil, breather tube

Question
Hello!  I have oil SPRAYING out of what I think is the breather tube that goes from the side of the engine to the bottom of the air filter housing.  Any ideas?
  Thanks!

Answer
Bret,

Usually this is an indication of overfilling of crankcase fluids.
sometimes when the engine spins the oil slinger will push excess oil out of your engine.
Could you possibly Give me a Model# and Type# for this engine to further assist you in this issue?
But from your description  it sounds more like you have a clogged Oil breather the breather allows the oil to recieve oxygen and also allows the harmful oil  vapors to be recycled into the engine for combustion.
If you could follow up with me with a model and type I can pull the service manual and give you a more specific solution
