Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Removing muffler from weed eater, exhaust muffler, weed eater

Question
My weed eater GTI 16 is hard to start and won't stay running more than 2 seconds after I put in start fluid in the carburetor. I have changed the spark plug and fuel filter. My manual suggests removing muffler but I don't know how. Can you help me with my problem?

Answer
Mr. Forrest,

Most Weedeater Brands do this over time Because they are only good for so long.
to remove the exhaust muffler:
2 screws Hold your muffler on simply remove both and the muffler should come off However If No Screws are visible then the muffler is  factory attached and is not meant to be removed. It will Unscrew from your block
If your weedeater wont stay running I would suggest cleaning the air filter it should be on the rear under the choke housing simply remove this housing and the filter is made of foam clean it in gas let it dry add engine oil to it squeeze out excess and reinstall.
While you have the air cleaner removed try starting the weed eater if it starts and runs without the filter then the clean filter  was your issue.
Like with everything if your machine cant breathe it simply dies
