Question
I have a Model 38706x99a, 12.5HP/38" cut I need help getting it to cut a full 38". the mower leaves a line on the right side setting on the mower.I've tried adjusting the deck buy the book, with no luck. Can you help me? or do i need to take it in?

Answer
Start with a level surface like your garage floor or concrete driveway.  Next check to make sure the correct blades are on the tractor.  Put the blades so they are to tip measure from the floor to the cutting edge of the blade.  It should be fairly close.

Put the blades pointing front to back and measure from the floor to the cutting  surface.  Normally, the deck will be 1/4" to 1/2" lower in front.  No one runs their deck completely flat, because it takes too much horsepower.

The conditioned you are seeing is usually caused by not mowing often enough or trying to discharge the grass into high grass.  It is very important that you run your tractor at wide-open throttle.  Mowing at a slower engine speed will not help the engine it will damage it.  The rule to follow is to never cut off more than  1/3 of the  blade of grass.  An example would be if you want your grass to grow to 3 inches.  Then you would allow the grass to grow to 4" and caught off 1 1/2" at a time.

If none of these suggestions help contact the dealer.  Most 38" mowers will not cut exactly 38" and if they did there would be a strip of un-cut grass in the center of the cut path.

I know this sounds confusing, but the blades are not timed, they are offset and the width of cut is measured when the planes are to tip.  That happens when the tractor turns and the blades line up in the cut.  Hope some of this helps
