Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): blades disengaging, craftsman lawn tractor, electrical switches

Question
i have a craftsman lawn tractor model#917.270514  14.5 ohv. i have replaced all electrical switches on the tractor. as soon as it is started the blades start turning. i pull handle down to disengage and the blades still turn. any ideas? thank you for ant help, have a great day.

Answer
Is the belt too tight?  Are the brake pads engaging the blade drive pulleys?

Brake pad part number: 184907

With the blade engagement lever in the off position, the belt should have some slack and the brake pads should be touching the pulleys.  You will need to inspect the deck to check the parts.

Did you go to the Sears website, under "Parts" to view your parts diagram?

Let me know about the belt and pads.
