Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): push mower, discharge chute, air gap

Question
3 yr old 6hp briggs no spark. new plug new magneto set correctly. kill switch works properly. still no spark.what's next?

Answer
Are the magnets in the flywheel good, can you pick up the flywheel with a screw driver?  Is the air gap set correctly between the magneto and flywheel?  It should be about the thickness if a picture.  If it is a simple mower no electric start or key switch then the system is very simple.  When you hold down the bail you disengage the brake and open or close the circuit depending on your system.  Now if there is a discharge chute cover with a safety switch on it that has to be in place too.  You cannot just unplug it. If after all of this you are either checking for spark incorrectly or you have a bad component.
