Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weed Eater Lawn Mower Boggs Down, briggs stratton, fuel cap

I've a fairly new Weed Eater brand , Briggs & Stratton 500 series, 158cc lawnmower.  It will bogg down after running about 50 feet.  Chokes out?  You can prim, and it will restart and your back to cutting another 50 feet....Any thought on problem?

Well first off it's not choking out, if it was you'd be aiding it by priming it Keith. Next time it does it pull the fuel line at the carb and see if it's getting fuel from the carb. I have seen a few of these 500 series having their fuel cap air vents getting blocked causing a fuel lock. Either that or try it with the cap off for a little bit. If that doesn't help you'll need some carb work..Tom
