Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): trimmer spool threading, line slides, arrow points

Question
QUESTION: can you tell me  how to put string on the spool of a homelite sx-135 bandit trimmer. may go by 20601 also thanks

ANSWER: Hello Frank:

On the Spool is an Arrow. The Spool has a Hole in it for the end of the String to Hold it while you Wind the Cutter String in the Direction the Arrow Points. Lock the String Into the Slots on the Spool to Hold the String in Place and Insert the Spool Back into the Trimmer Head. Pull the String and Release the String from the Slot and the Trimmer should be Ready to Operate. You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.homelite.com/service_support and Select Order Parts. Now Select "Click to Launch Homelite Catalog". Now Enter the Model Numbers (UT-10646) and Click Search. Now Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can View the Breakdowns for this Unit. QUESTION: hi cant find arrow, do i wind string clock wise or counter clockwise thanks frank. also can you clarify on what you mean buy lock the string in the slots. do i have two ends of string or lock the single string in two slots then threw the holes on the outer cover?

Answer
Hello Again Frank:

There are 2 Styles of Trimmer Heads that are on these Trimmers. 1 Style is a Single Line Head and the Other is a Double Line Head. The Line is Installed by Winding it the Same Direction the Head Turns During Operation. If a Double Line Head, Use a Single Line Folded in Half. Attach Both Ends into the Spool Catches (Usually Holes the line slides into) and Turn Both Lines at the Same Time and Cut the Line Once you Reach the End. The Slots I was Speaking About are Used to Hold the Line After it is Installed Onto the Spool. As the Spool is Installed Into the Head, the Lines are Feed through the Holes of the Head and then Pulled to Release them from the Slotted line Holders. Some Spools Do Not use the Slots. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
