Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulanpro blower spitting fuel out of air filter, loose screws, air mixture

Question
Hello,
I have a well used 2002 poulan pro BVM200. I have done some searching and discovered that it has a 530071632 Carburetor C1Q-W11C, made by ZAMA, I think. Anyway, it has been running just fine but has started pouring fuel out of the air filter area. Not right at first but after or during a good 15-20 min. use it is dripping from that area. It seems to run fine with plenty of power, starts fine, and idles well. I have taken the carb off and reassembled hoping that it was just some loose screws or somehting but no dice. I am fairly mech. inclined but I just do not understand these little diaphram carbs. I did notice that several months ago the gas cap would allow a little fuel out of the little hole in it if stored upright(the gas cap is on the side of this unit) so I started storing it on its side. I was thinking of just buying a new carb. What do you think? Any idea what's wrong with it or just replace it?
Thank You,
Chad

Answer
Hello Chad:

Usually this is a Sign that the High RPM Air Mixture Screw is Set too Rich, the Muffler or Exhaust Port is Becoming Restricted and Requires Cleaning or the Carburetor Metering Pump Spring is Weak. According to the Breakdown, this Carburetor is a THROW AWAY Carburetor. When this Carburetor is the Cause of the Problem; this Carburetor is Supposed to be Replaced with a New Carburetor. I Suggest you Check the Exhaust Port, Muffler and Spark Arrestor (inside the Muffler) and Make Sure they are Clear. If the Carburetor has Air Mixture Screws, then Turn the H Screw in 1.4 Turn and Try the Engine. If it Still Leaks from the Air Filter, then Replace the Carburetor. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
