Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): stihl trimmer, model fs, exhaust port

Question
Hi, i have an an older model FS 36 string trimmer. The trimmer is getting fuel, carb is very clean but it will not start. I changed the plug but is seems that its not getting spark. I read that these trimmers have problems with the coil. Should i replace the coil? what else is involved? thanks, Bill

Answer
Hello Bill:

Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Exhaust Port for Carbon Blocking the Exhaust Port. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen (in the muffler) for Carbon Blockage Also. If No Spark, then Disconnect the Kill Switch. Id Still No Fire, then Replace the Ign Module/Coil. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
