Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi Trimmer leaking gas, ryobi gas trimmer, ryobi trimmer

Question
Thanks for taking my question. I have a Ryobi gas trimmer, model 700r, that is leaking gas - completely empties the tank between uses. Harder than usual to start lately. Gas drips from the bottom of the trimmer engine. Tank looks intact; the two small plastic hoses are not leaking. Would like to know if this is an easy/practical fix, or should I start shopping for a new one. Thanks again.

Answer
Hello Craig:

Check the Gas Tank Cap. It May Not be Venting the Tank. Pressure Builds in the Tank and Pushes the Fuel Through the Pulse Jet Needle Valve and the Fuel Leaks Out the Muffler or the Crankshaft Seal Usually. If the Cap is Good, then the Pulse Needle Spring is Weak and Allowing a Small Amount of Pressure to Open the Needle Valve and Leak Fuel. You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.ryobitools.com/parts and Select "Go to Ryobi Outdoor Parts Store". Now Select "Repair Parts Catalog". Select I Agree to Terms. Now Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Now Double Click on you Model in the Results Area. On Some Models the Carburetor Breakdown is Shown at the OEM Site ONLY. I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
