Audi Repair: 99 A6 quattro ABS/parking light, a6 quattro, abs light

Question
I have a 99 A6 quattro with about 99k on it. The ABS light stays on all the time
and the parking light keeps flashing at all times. When I first start the car it
beeps about 3 times and the box in the bottom right says service inspect and
then goes away and is replaced with the mileage. What does this mean??

Answer
The service beeps indicate that the car is due to be serviced, the dealer or import service shop has a tool that they use to re-set this warning.  If the ABS light stays on, this could be a fuse, or a poor contact.  I have also noticed on cars when the batteries are not quite as powerful as they should be, that the ABS does not activate properly when the car is started. So check your fuses and check the battery. If they are all OK then you may need your dealer to look at the ABS system. let me know,  Jan
