Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 1994 Scag Model #SSZ-16BV, roll pin, gear assembly

I just bought this mower and it worked for a few days, then the starter went out.  It had a broke gear.  I have the new gear but am having problems getting the pin out to put the new gear on.  Thanks for any help!

Hello Lyman:

I am Assuming you are Asking About the Roll Pin in the Top of the Starter that Hold the Starter Drive Gear Assembly in Place. Use a Small Deep Well Socket to Set 1 End of the Pin in and Use a Hammer and Drift Punch to Drive the Pin Out of the Starter Drive Support. If this is Not Correct, then Send me the Engine Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.
