Question
QUESTION: When I got my mower out this spring the battery was dead- I jump started it and it ran great but will not shut-off with the key and the safety switch in the seat doesn't kill it either. (I have already got a new battery as I should have in the first place)

ANSWER: Hello Ben:

It Sounds like you have a Short. Go to this Site Addy; You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram and Select the Catalog American Honda. Select the Riding Mower File. Send me the Complete Model Numbers of the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Also, did you Use a Battery or a Running Automotive Engine to Jump the Mower? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Again Ben:

Thanks for the Numbers. They are what I Required. You Need to Remove the Engines Blower Housing (Metal Engine Cover) and Check the Shut Off Wire at the Coil. Use a Multimeter and Make Sure the Wire is Grounded when the Ign Switch is in the Off Position. If Not, then Check the Wire from the Ign Switch to the Coil. If this is Good, then Check the Ign Switch. It May be Bad or a Wire to the Ign Switch May be Bad. The Ign Switch Grounds the Coil and Stops the Coil from Firing the Spark Plug. You can Use the Breakdown at the Site Addy I Provided Earlier as a Reference. I Used the H1011 SA Mower as a Reference. Remember, Never Jump a Mower from Another Battery that has an Engine Running. The Charging System is Usually Larger than the Mowers and when the Mower Starts the Stator or Voltage Regulator is Damaged. You May have Charging Problems After we get the Shut Off Problem Solved. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
