Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no start on zero turn mower, cable ends, safety switch

Question
I have a Gravley zero turn mower, I went to start up the engine & when I turned the key it would not start, nothing.
I noticed that when I turn the key, the first turn turns on the lights but the lights will not come on. Battery is charged & good. I am puzzeled that the lights will not come on...Could the solenoid be the cause to this. I have checked the fuses & all are good.

Answer
Gravley's have a safety switch module that may be causing your problem.  Go to their website and enter you model number to find the electrical schematic.

As tip, go ahead and disconnect the battery.  Clean the battery post and cable ends with a wirebrush then reconnect.  I have fixed a lot of electrical problems just by cleaning the battery connectins.

Send me the model number so I can look up the info.
