Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 13 HP engine will not start, spark plug gap, engine cranks


Question
engine cranks good, will not start, spits out the carburetor, have replaced spark plug and new coil solid state module because of weak spark, now has good spark,removed flywheel and checked key and slot in crankshaft both ok, set spark plug gap and air gap at coil as per manual,still same problem,removed engine and disassembled and checked alignment marks on crankshaft and camshaft also counter weight everything lines up cleaned internal parts and reassembled, adjusted valves at .004"
still have same problem. What am i missing ?

From your Description it Sounds like a Valve Clearance or Valve Seat Problem. Did you Reseat the Valves? Did you have the Piston Out of the Jug/Cylinder? If Yes, Did you De-Glaze the Cylinder before Installing the Piston? Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.
