Question
Hi john,my Kawasaki 15hp is acting up.e/no fh430va35453 with code fh430v-as04. She sputters when first started, like running on one cylinder,no gas or weak spark. then she fires up and runs great for five minutes and then dumps, bogging down. could you tell me the proper carb screw settings for top and side? got good gapped spark, fresh pumping fuel, cleaned carb and air filters. Thanks, matt

Answer
Hello Matt:

Is the an FH430V SO-1 or Another Designation (example: SO2, SO3, SO4, ect)? I Looked at the FH430V SO1 and the FH430V SO22 Engine Carburetors and they Used the Same Carburetor. The Following it the Instruction File for Setting the Air Mixture Screws. The Procedure is the Same for 1 or 2 Mixture Screws, Just Use the Instruction File and Skip Over the Section with the Missing Mixture Screw. Now Setting the Air Mixture Screws:  ****Turn the Idle Air and Main Air Mixture Screws In Until SNUG **Do Not Jam** Then Reverse Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Holding the Throttle Full Open, Start the Engine. Turn the Main Air Mixture Screw Clockwise Until Proper Revs are Obtained. Occasionally you May have to Turn this Counter Clockwise to Achieve the Proper Revs. Now Allow the Engine to Idle. Set the Engine Idle Screw (Not Idle Air) so the Engine will Stay Running if Required. Now Set the Idle Air Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Reset the Engine Idle if Required.**** You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.buykawpower.com/kmcb2c/main.jsp and Select View Parts Catalog. Does the Fuel Pump have Spring Style Hose Clamps on the Hoses? If Yes, then I Suggest you Change them to the Screw Style Hose Clamps. The Spring Style Clamps Tend to Lose Tension and Allow the Vacuum Hose to the Fuel Pump to Leak and the Pump will Not Get the Proper Vacuum to Operate Properly. Is the Gas Tank Cap Venting the Tank? If No, then a Vacuum will Build in the Tank and Restrict the Gas Flow to the Pump and Carburetor. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
