Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper RER Spindle Removal, hydrolic press, blade holder

Question
QUESTION: Snapper Model:  M280817B
I hit a rock and the mower deck metal broke away from the spindle - so the spindle is wearing the mower deck like a large and loose collar. My plan is to take the mower deck off and get it welded back together and remount it on the mower... but I can't get the bar that's on the spindle (that the blade hangs on) off. I've got the nut off and can't see anything holding the bar in place.... but it acts like it's welded on. Little help? Thanks! Rick

Page 30, it's not welded I'm pretty sure it is threaded. Have you tried holding the pulley nut and then using a hammer to try and unthreading the blade holder?

Spindle Flange
QUESTION: Perfect, Eric. It's threaded and I got it off. But now I can't get the flange off. I can't see a retaining ring. It looks like it should slip right off but it feels like it's secured on there. What do you think?
Thanks, again! Rick

Looks like you have the top pulley off as well.  You should be able to press the shaft from the top in order to remove the lower bearing.  Clean the shaft with a wirebrush and/or use emry cloth to clean the shaft...my guess the bearing is seized to the shaft.

Be careful when pressing on the shaft.  Do not damage the threads.  Replacing the nut on the shaft 3/4 of the way down will prevent damaging the shaft threads.  Another tip, do not use too much pressure!!!  I once blew a bearing to pieces using a huge hydrolic press...sounded like a 12 gauge shot gun going off and parts/shrapnel flew everywhere.  Luckly no one was hurt and I got the shaft out but needless to say it needed new bearings.
