Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Husqvarna 455 Rancher chainsaw oiler problem, air bubbles, quarter tank

Question
Hi John,
I have a 455 rancher, that seems only use a small amount of chain oil. The saw has worked fine for about three years.
I have cleaned the oil hole on each side of the bar, but do not see any oil off the end while running the saw. I may only go through a quarter tank of oil for each tank of gas. If I take off the bar and run the saw, oil will run from the black gasket fine. The oiler is adjusted to maximum flow. I have tried to clean the filer on the end of the hose in the oiler tank.
Should I replace the pump? I see air bubbles come out with the oil while running the saw without the bar?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Pete

Answer
Hello Pete:

If you See Air Bubbles from the Oil Port with the Bar Removed, this is Usually a Sign of a Cracked Pump Housing or a Cracked Oil Supply Hose. Have you Tried to Operate the Saw with the Oil Screen Removed from the Oil Pickup Hose? Try this and See if the Oil Increases to the Bar. If it Does Not and you Still See Air Bubbles, then Replace the Pump. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
