Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere SRX75 Riding Mower Throttle Pedal Adjustment, old john deere, input shaft

Question
Hi,
I have a 17 year old John Deere SRX 75 riding mower and just changed all the drive belts. Mower performance is much improved but the mower will not stop moving when you lift off the pedal. Now the mower can't be shifted between forward and reverse if you apply the brakes but it will shift if you are rolling in either direction on level ground and don't apply the brakes. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Bob:

Did you Make Any Adjustment Over the Years when the Drive Belts were Wearing to Make the Ground Drive Operate Properly? If Yes, then you need to Return the Adjustment to its Original Position. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (SRX75) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Select the Power Train, Steering and Brakes File. No Select the Clutch and Brake Pedals and Linkage. The Adjuster is #13 in the Breakdown Picture. Once you have the Adjustment Correct it should Allow the Transaxle to go Into Gear Properly. There is Tension on the Transaxle Input Shaft and this will Prevent the Transaxle from going Into Gear Properly. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
