Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 02 Cub Cadet Tank PTO problem, safety interlock switch, switch jumper

Question
I am having a problem with my 02 Cub Cadet Tank.  It has the 60 inch deck and 24 horsepower Kohler Engine.  After routine maintenance (changed fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter) I used the mower for about 5 hours.  It ran fine.  The next day I went to use it and when I engaged the PTO for the mower blades nothing happened.  Then about 5 seconds later the mower tries to die. This happens every time now...  What should I check?  There are no obstacles obstructing the blades or belts.  Any assistance is appreciated.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Ryan:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobisalespartslookup.com/home.asp and Select the Cub Cadet Logo. Now Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Now Select the OEM ( Cub Cadet) and Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select Sectional View. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine or the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. Usually the Problem you Described is Caused by a Bad Seat Switch or a Bad Safety Interlock Switch/Relay. The Following is the Instruction File for Checking the Seat Safety Switch. **Check the Seat Safety Switch. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY. I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed. Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch Jumper from Same Color Wire to Same Color Wire). The Seat Safety is Showing No One is Seating in the Seat when the Clutch or Blades are Engaged.**  If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
