Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): riding lawn mowers, woodruff key, spindle assembly

Question
Hey John, the mower is a Cab Cadet Hydrostatic lawn tractor LT1050.Model#13AQ11CP009 serial #1K207H10650.

The question is about blade engagement. When you engage the PTO the blade is not cutting it is weak. The blade is not spinning fast enough it is not fully cutting the grass. How do I fix the problem?

Thanks,
Lisa

Answer
Hello Lisa:

I am Assuming the Engine is Turning the Proper RPMs. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobisalespartslookup.com/home.asp and Select the Cub Cadet Logo. Now Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Now Select the OEM ( Cub Cadet) and Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers (LT1050) and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select Sectional View. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Select the Mower Deck File First. Is the Extension Spring (#28) that Attaches to the Idler Arm Still Connected and is it Keeping Tension on the Deck Drive Belt? Is the Deck Drive Belt in Good Condition? Do the Spindle Assemblies (#2)Turn Freely when Spun by Hand? Is there Any Grinding or Binding when Turning the Spindle Assemblies by Hand? The Cause of this Problem can be; 1- a Bad Belt. *Replace the Belt.* 2- a Bad Spring (#28). *Replace the Spring.* 3- a Bad Spindle Assembly (#2). *Replace or Rebuild the Spindle Assembly.* 3- A Sheared Woodruff Key at the PTO. *Remove the PTO Center Bolt and Slide the PTO Off the Engines Crankshaft. Make Sure the Woodruff Key is Not Sheared. If it is Sheared, then Replace the Woodruff Key. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
