Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere 445 Garden tractor, john deere 445 garden tractor, john deere 445

Question
I have a JD 445 with a 2 cyl. Kawasaki engine, electronic fuel inj. When I try to start it a lot of gas is being put in the engine. I took the spark plugs out and crank it and the cylinders are almost full. I look into the throttle body while cranking and see a lot of gas going in. When the key is turned on without cranking, I hear a hissing noise, like fuel is being constantly flowing.

Answer
Hello Rick:

Disconnect the Plug from the Injector. Crank the Engine and Watch the Injector. Is it Hissing as Before. If yes, then the Injector Plunger has Frozen/Stuck and the Injector Requires Replacing. If the Hissing has Stopped, then Reconnect the Injector Wire and Disconnect the Water Temperature Sensor. Crank the Engine. Is the Injector Hissing? If No, then the Coolant Sensor is Bad. If Yes, then the Injector Module May Require Replacing. A JD Dealer should be Able to Check the Injector Module for you. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (445) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
