Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 16.5 hp briggs and stratton motor, briggs and stratton, hp briggs

Question
this question pertains to the one i asked you the other day about a 16.5 hp overhead valve briggs engine that was spitting oil out the breather hose up into the air cleaner. i checked the oil and it isnt too full. its halfway between add and full. also the dipstick o ring is ok and theres no leakes there. if i take the dipstick out while running it will spit oil out of dipstick tube also, there just seems to be so much pressure in this engine and it wants to spit oil out. i noticed it will spit some out the overhead valve cover also as the gasket was bad. could there be a internal problem?  what about a possible stopped up oil filter?  any answers greatly appreciated!! again this motor runs great!!!!

   * The breather allows the pressure inside the crankcase to vent to the outside and should result in negative pressure inside as this contains a (leaky) one-way valve.

   * The breather cover is under where the flywheel is located.

   * Remove the screw to remove the cover plate. There is a gasket but it will probably separate cleanly.

   * Check the spring and valve disk for rust, dirt, and wear. They will likely be fine. Make sure the small vent hole is clear.

   * Replace the cover as there is nothing else to do in there.
