Answer
Hello Ed:

You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://scag.com/manuals.html and Select your Mower. Then Select Part Manual for Downloading. Looking at the Breakdown for this Mower, it should have a Kohler Model CH740-0041 Engine. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.kohlerplus.com/login.asp and Select Enter as Guest. Now Select the Thumbnail of the Catalog you Wish to View. I Used the CH740 Thumbnail. Then Selected the Ch740-0041 Engine File. The Problem you Described is Usually Caused by a Bad Voltage Regulator or Stator or a Wire in the Harness that is Grounding. You can Use this Briggs Stator Test Diagrams to Test the Stator on the Kohler Engines. The Site Addy for the Stator Test Page is; http://www4.briggsandstratton.com/miscpdfs/RNT/alternator_id.pdf . Usually the Yellow Wired Fuse is for the Safety Switch Circuit and the Red Wired Fuse is for the Charging Circuit. The Breakdown Does No Use a Color Code for the Wiring Diagragm. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
