Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fuel, vacuum line, hose clamp

Question
I have a poulan pro riding lawn mower(20hp briggs). When i was mowing grass the engine died because i ran out  of gas. I put more gas in and the mower would crank but not start. I replaced the plugs and still the same thing. I checked the fuel lines and i seem to have gas flowing threw the fuel filter al the way into the the carb. I poured fuel into the carb and the engine started but died when the fuel i poured in was gone. I kept the motor running for about a min. buy adding fuel to the carb but when i stopped the engine did any ideas?

Answer
Hello Jon:

Remove the Carburetor and Use Compressed Air to Blow Out the Passages of the Carburetor. Trash was Picked up when the Engine Ran Out of Gas and this Trash is Restricting the Carburetor Jet. Make Sure the Gas is Free Flowing to the Carburetor Inlet Port First. On Some Model Mowers you have to Prime the Fuel Line and Carburetor Bowl for the Engine to Pick up the Gas and Start Running Properly Again. Replace the Vacuum Line Hose Clamp for the Fuel Pump with Screw Type Clamps. The Old Spring Type CLamps Tend to Leak Air in the Vacuum Line and Cause the Problem you are Having. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
