Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower starts but wont run, briggs and stratton, question pool

Question
Thanks for any help you can give me.  I have a Snapper Big 6 with a Briggs and Stratton engine.  After overwintering, I put in fresh gas, and it starts beautifully, but won't run.  Brother says possibly a fuel filter?  Does it have one?  Any other suggestions before I take it in?  I'm very ignorant about this and have no one to help me.

Answer
Hello Maggie:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine or the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. It is Most Likely the Carburetor Requires Cleaning. This is the Most Common Problem for the Problem you Described. The Model Numbers will Help me See the Engine and the Mower and Show me if this has a Fuel Pump that May be Causing the Problem. Thanks.
