Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Changing the carb on a B&S Platinum 15.5 HP, hp model, hp engine

Question
I just purchased a Murray Select riding mower(model #40507X8C) that originally came with a 12.5 HP engine. However, the previous owner replaced it with a B&S Platinum 15.5 HP (model 28N707). The carb on the Platinum has some sort of electronic cut off module on the bottom of the bowl but the wiring is missing for it. Can I just replace the bowl and get rid of the electronic piece or should I change to a Nikki carb? Are there other options I can consider?

Answer
Remove the electroic fuel shut-off switch on the carb and see it the metal plunger is still there.  I have seen people cut/remove the internal plugner rendering the soleniod useless.

If you have a bowl nut with the same threads you can just remove the fuel shut-off solenoid.  The engine may backfire when you shut it off if the solenoid is removed.

I guess I should ask does the engine currently run?
Let me know.
