Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): short block replacement, piston valves, rod bearings

Question
Hello Ben,
I got a HMSK100 10.5 hp Tecumseh engine. Well it's my father in law's engine and he forgot to put oil in it. So the connecting rod blew hitting the cases so both are scrap. here are the engine specs: tecumseh 10.5 hp 159364w
I would like to know if it's possible the all the rest of the components could still be good? I took every thing apart and the piston, valves, crankshaft and other internal parts look good. No signs of heat damaged also. It just the short block that got the worst of it all. With what could I replace it with?? Do I need an other HMSK  block or a HM or something else that could do the job? I just want to swap the parts. Please help me with this.

This is a snow blower engine so if you are saying that the cases are cracked and the connecting rods are broke. Yes you can probably get a short block and some new rods and pistons,I wouldn't use the old one because they are probably wore and have groove marks from the other engine, And check the connecting rod also to see if that is bent or damaged. You will have to replace the gaskets and rod bearings. Most of the parts can be swapped. You need to look at each part to see if there is any damage,You will have to make sure the heads are in good shape and I would hone them and take a measurement to see if you need a oversize piston.
