Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears Lawn Tractor Dies Out, redlands ca, lawn tractor

Model number is 917.276010 with the 25HP Koler CV730, type #0017.
My mower starting missing real bad and I have to have the choke out all the way to run it, and that does not work the machine now at all.  I did give it a complete tune-up, spark plugs, oil change,fuel and air filter.  When that did no good I ordered a new carb but looking at the new one I am afraid to install it as I can return it if I don't use it. It looked like a simple carb and I am thinking it is a different problem. When I push the choke back in the engine dies and still won't operate with the choke out. Any thoughts please?

you have carb problems the engine is starving for fuel.Check to see if the tank is clean inside nothing restricting the flow and check the fuel line and the filter and the fuel shut off if you have one. If all that checks out good then the carb is properly the culprit.
