Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower battery, walk behind lawn mowers, number designation

Question
I have a second hand Ariens riding mower with a 10 hp Tecumsche engine.  How can I tell what size battery to put in it?  How many cca's does it require?  The engine is a TVM220 157261F.  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Tommy:

I Always Suggest that the Largest CCA Battery Available for the Unit be Used in Any Mower or Auto. You will have Less Trouble with the Starter and Other Electrical Components if you Use the Largest CCA Battery. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. **The model and serial number designation is located in an area that is easily visible. The locations will vary by product and model year. The locations are as follows (all locations are given from the operator's position): Zero-turn mowers - back left side of frame near the engine Rear engine riders - left or right side of main frame right below the seat Tractors - front left or front right side of tractor frame or on the right side of the dash support Walk Behind lawn mowers - top or right side of rear discharge opening Sno-Thros® - back left side of main frame or on handlebar The model identification will consist of six numbers that begin with a "9".** If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
