Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Oil blowing from breather tube, crankcase breather, assembly drawings

Question
John,
I have Toro model 924 snowblower with a Tecumseh 9hp engine Model OHSK90. The engine starts and runs fine, however after it warms up it starts to blow oil from the breather tube. The oil seems to have a slight smell of gas. Any suggestions on what to look for would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Answer
Hello Andy:

Usually this is a Sign of the Head Gasket Blown between the Push Tube Galley and the Compression Chamber, the Rings are Worn and Can Not Expand enough and this  Allows too Much Compression into the Crankcase or the Crankcase Breather is Bad and Requires Replacing. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers. Now Select View Assembly Drawings. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
