Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oil/fuel mixture ration, oil fuel mixture, engine longevity

Question
John,
I own several Stihl tools, chainsaw, string trimmer, blower vac, all running a 50/1 ratio.  I saw your recent comment on running them 40/1 under hard usage.  Would this increase the difficulty in starting or likelihood of fouling a plug.  Would it likely increase engine longevity?  I use Stihl Oil.  Thanks for providing this service.  Larry

Answer
Hello Larry:

I have Found that Using a Slightly Heavier Oil to Gas Ratio; 40:1 Versus 50:1, Increases the Life of my Equipment and Does Not Foul Plugs or Clog the Exhaust Port and Muffler with Carbon as I had Suspected it Would. All my 2 Cycle Equipment Start with Ease and I have had No Complaints about Starting Problems. Remember, On 2 Cycle Engines, the Oil is the Life of the Engine. All the Lubrication for the Internal Components come from the Oil in the Gas. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
