Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Fuel in Oil, briggs stratton, crankcase

Question
Ben,

I have been working on repairing a Briggs & Stratton Model:31C707 Type: 0154 E1 and the problem was the fuel was getting into the crankcase. I replaced the fuel float and needle but still having the same problem. Could the problem be the fuel solenoid or is there a fuel shut off valve on this engine.

Thanks,

Rich

From the Description of your problem it sounds like the rings have collapsed. They no longer expand with the engine as it heats up. My suggestion is to Overhaul the Engine and Rebuild the Carb.  Also install a Fuel Cutoff for when the Mower isn't in use. Hope this Helps.
