Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton slight miss/pop, briggs stratton, 6 digits

Question
Briggs & Stratton 5 HP  engine Mod 9A413-0202-E1 used on Sears Snow blower 536.881501.  I just started this brand new snow blower and the engine has a sporadic slight miss and emits a slight puff sound from the exhaust when the miss occurs.  The engine started and seems to run fine however I have not had to use it under a load condition yet with snow. Is the miss a problem or just needs to be ignored?  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Chuck:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: 9A413-0202. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. This May be the Valves Working in. I Suggest you Use the Snow Thrower at Least Once Under a load and then Evaluate the Engine. If the Sporadic Miss is Still Present After the First Use, then Return it and have the Small Engine Service Center Repair the Engine Under Warranty. It May be the Compression Release is Not Set Properly ( It is Rare on a New Engine, but it Happens) or there May be a Small Amount of Water in the Gas you are Using. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
